Neola C. Schmidtberger
      A funeral Mass for Neola Schmidtberger, 71, formerly of Russell, was said Oct. 2, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Peter O’Donnell celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Schmidtberger died Sept. 28. She was born June 20, 1941, in Hyacinth to Isidor P. and Lidwina (Younker) Kreutzer.
     Survivors include two brothers, Marvin Kreutzer, Brighton, Colo., and LeRoy Kreutzer and wife, Sandy, Hays; four sisters, Ann Sander, Littleton, Colo., Verla Staab and husband, Roger, and Millie Flax, all of Hays, and Firma Pfannenstiel, WaKeeney; and a sister-in-law, Judy Kreutzer, Russell.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert F. Schmidtberger; a brother Kenneth Kreutzer; an infant brother and an infant sister.
 
Lawrence J. Brungardt Jr.
      A funeral Mass for Lawrence J. Brungardt Jr., 71. Emmeram, was said Sept. 25, 2012, at St. Ann Church in Walker. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
     Mr. Brungardt died Sept. 13. He was born April 16, 1941, in Hays to Lawrence J. and Alexia (Herman) Brungardt Sr.
     Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Pottorff and husband, Michael, Terre Haute, Ind., and Amanda Brungardt-Oxenford, Walker; his mother, Hays; a brother, Sam Brungardt, Minneapolis; two sisters, Marge Carlson, Hays and Jackie Prickett, Wichita; five grandchildren; and his companion, Jackie House, Salina.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Myrlene (Castor) Brungardt.
     
Cody John Schmeidler
      Cody John Schmeidler, infant son of Kent and Carla (Dinkel) Schmeidler, Victoria, was stillborn Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012.
     Survivors include his parents; a brother, Eli; two sisters, Shelby and Sienna; his grandparents, Ray and Marilyn Dinkel, Hays, and Phil and Brenda Schmeidler, Catharine; and his great-grandparents, James and Frances Dinkel, Hays, and Cyril and Alice Schmeidler, Catharine.
     Private family services were held Aug. 31, at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria.
 
Rich Weber
      A funeral Mass for Rich Weber, 63, Victoria, was said Aug. 30, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Weber died Aug. 26. He was born Dec. 9, 1948, in Hays to Herman and Anita (Staab) Weber. 
     Survivors include his wife, Diana L. (Derr) Weber; a son, Richard Weber and wife, Sandra, Hays; a daughter, Melissa Schmidt and husband, Robert, Victoria; a brother, Mitch Weber and wife, Julie, Hays; a sister, Roben Weber, Hutchinson; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Weber and Karen Weber, both of Victoria; and Rosie Weber, Hays; and six grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara A. (Billinger) Weber; and three brothers, Brian, Herman V. “Verlee” and Lavon.
 
Alvin M. Weigel
     A funeral Mass for Alvin Weigel, 92, Victoria, was said Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Weigel died Aug. 24. He was born July 22, 1920, in Hays to Michael P. and Agnes (Kuhn) Weigel.
     Survivors include his wife, Ventura (Giebler) Weigel; a son, Gary Weigel and wife, Clarene, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Delores Schmidt and husband, Terrance, Oklahoma City, and Jacqueline Luttrell and husband, Dennis, Eldon. Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Edgar, Joseph, Jerome and Peter Weigel; and five sisters, Rose Weigel, Lidwina Klobertanz, Basilia Frank, Regina Weigel and Irene Meis.
    
Lavina Vonfeldt
      Lavina Vonfeldt, 79, McKinney, Texas, formerly of Hays and Victoria, died Saturday, Aug. l8, 2012.
     She was born March 21, 1933, in Victoria to Levin and Pauline (Weigel) Kuhn.
     Survivors include a son, Bryan Vonfeldt and wife, Nancy, Lucas, Texas; two granddaughters, Jenifer Vonfeldt, Addison, Texas, and Sarah Holland and husband, Jay, San Antonio; two great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Dane Holland; a sister-in-law, Theresa Kuhn, Victoria; and a nephew, Bob Kuhn and wife, Debbie, Victoria.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Oliver Kuhn.
     A funeral Mass will be celebrated Oct. 13, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Inurnment will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
 
Norbert F. Robben
     A funeral Mass for Norbert Robben, 82, Walker, was said Aug. 28, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery in Walker.
     Mr. Robben died Aug. 23. He was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Walker to Francis H. and Josephine “Josie” (Windholz) Robben.
     Survivors include his wife, Donna; five sons, Michael Robben and wife, Sandra, James Robben and wife, Crystal, and Joe A. Robben and wife, Gail, all of Victoria, Dan Robben and wife, Cindy, Hays, and John Robben and wife, Karen, Meriden; two daughters, Marijo Isbell and husband, Terry, Walker, and Susan Karlin and husband, John, Catharine; three sisters, Shirley VonFeldt and husband, Francis, Plainville, Lil Hockman and husband, Ken, Sacramento, Calif., and June Denning-Robben, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Louise Robben and Doris Robben, both of Victoria; a brother-in-law, Marion Schumacher, Munjor; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Theresa (Rajewski) Robben; two brothers, Kenneth Robben and Charles Robben; a sister, Natalie “Toots” Schumacher; and an infant brother, Francis Henry Robben.
 
Twila Brungardt
      A funeral Mass for Twila Brungardt, 77, Victoria, was said Aug. 23, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst was the main celebrant; Fathers Harvey Dinkel, Earl Meyer and Felix Petrovsky concelebrated. 
     Mrs. Brungardt died Aug. 19. She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Hays to Richard Roth and Mary (Mermis) Roth-Wellbrock.
     Survivors include her husband, Frank C. Brungardt; five daughters, Mary Beth Stern, Phoenix, Margaret Gifford and husband, Wayne, Wichita, Marla Robben and husband, Rick, Walker, Melaine Collins and husband, Terry, Litchfield Park, Ariz., Melissa Haley and husband, Keith, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a sister, Elgerine Wayne, Panama Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Donna Roth, Marion, Iowa; a stepbrother, Gene Wellbrock and wife, Joan, Victoria; four step-sisters, Arlene Pfeifer and husband, Al, Gladys Pfeifer and husband, Dale, all of Victoria, Mary Lou Mirkovich, Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Rose Ann Welser and husband, Hal, Moline, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two step-great-children.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Delbert Roth; her stepfather, George Wellbrock; and a stepbrother, Varian Wellbrock.     
     
Richard J. Schmidtberger
     A funeral Mass for Richard Schmidtberger, 69, was said August 14, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Schmidtberger died Friday, August 10. He was born July 18, 1943, in Hays to Frank J. and Lucy (Pfannenstiel) Schmidtberger.
     Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Kuhn) Schmidtberger; two sons, Curt Schmidtberger and wife Mary Jo, Hays, and Jake Schmidtberger and wife, Joyce, Victoria; three daughters, Melissa Wentling, Norfolk, Neb., Stacy Schmidtberger, Hays, and Shana Rome and husband, Aaron, Hays; a brother, Dan Schmidtberger and wife, Mary, Hill City; a sister, Mary Smith, Wichita; and eleven grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents.
    
Elaine Klitzke
     A funeral Mass for Elaine Klitzke, 64, Hays, was said Aug. 11, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in Mount Allen Cemetery in Hays.
     Mrs. Klitzke died August 5. She was born in Hays to Bernard B. “Ben” and Ida (Meis) Brungardt.
     Survivors include her husband, Steve Klitzke; a son, Jon Kuhn, Haysville; two step-daughters, Tally Ann Klitzke, McPherson and Tara Goering and husband, Brandon, Hays; a sister, Darlene Dreiling and husband, Julius, Victoria; her father-in-law, Carl J. Klitzke, Ransom; and three grandchildren.
 
Robert J. Sander
     A funeral Mass for Robert Sander, 86, was said July 31, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Sander died July 28. He was born April 9, 1926, northwest of Victoria to Joseph A. and Theresa (Quint) Sander.
     Survivors include a sister, Lauraine Drazic, Kansas City, Kansas; a brother-in-law, A. J. Schmidtberger, Victoria; a sister-in-law, Jo Sander, Victoria; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edgar, Alfred and Hubert Sander; and five sisters, Georgine Dreiling, Virginia Cardwell, Sister Sarah Sander CSA, Thelma Riedel and Celeste Schmidtberger.
 
Delmer F. Berens
      A funeral Mass for Delmer Berens, 75, Fullerton, Calif., formerly of Walker, was said June 30, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Capuchin priests, Father Jeffrey Ernst and Father Michael Scully concelebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery, Walker.
     Mr. Berens died June 24. He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Walker to Herman W. and Sophie (Windholz) Berens.
     Survivors include three sons, Rodney Berens, Troy Berens and wife, Jennifer, all of Fullerton, and Toby Berens and wife, Cindy, Redding, Calif.; two daughters, Heidi Berens, Fullerton, and Andra Berens and companion, Stephen Welch, Springfield, Ore.; three sisters, Sharon Thompson and husband, Olen, Hondo, Texas, Joyce Newell and husband, Stan, Hays, and Mary Kay Schippers and husband, Daniel, Victoria; a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Berens, Hays; his former wife, Pat Berens, Fullerton; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernon, Raymond Joe and Larry Berens; a daughter, Casey Berens; and a grandchild, Jarrod Jensen.
 
Theresa M. Schippers
     A funeral Mass for Theresa Schippers, 77, was said June 20, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Capuchin priests, Father John Pfannenstiel, Father Jeffrey Ernst, Father Felix Petrovsky, Father Charles Polifka, and Father Michael Scully celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Schippers died June 15. She was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Hays to John M. and Mary T. (Herl) Pfannenstiel.
     Survivors include her husband, Paul O. Schippers of the home; a son, Troy Schippers and wife, Geralyn, Victoria; a daughter, Paula Schumacher and husband, Steve, Topeka; two brothers, Henry Pfannenstiel and wife, Mary, Hays, and Danny Pfannenstiel and wife, Margie, Munjor; a sister, Rosie Dome, Basehor; and six grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ted, Bob, Jake and Edward Pfannenstiel; seven sisters, Lucy Schmidtberger, Virginia Dreiling, Ida Dinkel; Minnie Berens, Eleanor Schumacher, Armella Ross and Louise Steckline; an infant brother; and two infant sisters.
 
Hilaria ‘Larry’ Windholz
     A funeral Mass for Hilaria Windholz, 101, was said May 23, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Windholz died May 13. She was born Nov. 12, 1910, in Emmeram to Joseph M. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Kuhn.
     Survivors include a daughter, Gladys Wickham and husband, William, Phillipsburg; a brother, Francis Kuhn and wife, Mary Jane, Victoria; two sisters, Leona Rohleder and Martina Bieker, both of Hays; a sister-in-law, Laurina Kuhn, Hays, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anselm “Scotty” Windholz; a daughter, Gracie Windholz; six brothers, Raymond, John, Leo, Eugene, Joseph F. and Clarence Kuhn; two infant brothers, Conrad and Anton; and five sisters, Dena Riedel; Margaret Dinkel, Delphina Copp, Mary Brungardt and Lillian Windholz.
 
Doris Roth
     A funeral Mass for Doris Roth, 91, Hays, was said May 4, 2012, at Holy Cross Church in Pfeifer. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
     Mrs. Roth died May 1. She was born March 20, 1921, in Pfeifer to John J. and Elizabeth (Kisner) Dome.
     Survivors include a brother, Floris Dome and wife, Bernadette, Pfeifer; a brother-in-law, Vitus Brungardt and wife, Gladys, Hays; two sisters-in-law, Helen Dome and Josepha Dome, both of Hays; and several nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Donald Roth; two brothers, John Dome and Leonard Dome; and two sisters, Gertrude Brungardt and Florence Leiker.
 
Albert Simon Rohleder
     A funeral Mass for Albert Rohleder, 93, Wichita, formerly of Victoria, was said April 24, 2010, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Rohleder died April 20. He was born March 3, 1919, in Victoria to Peter and Pauline (Dreiling) Rohleder.
     Survivors include two sons, Al Rohleder Jr. and wife, Maureen, and Bob Evans and wife, Janice, all of Wichita; a sister, Clara Rohleder, Victoria; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Eugene, Peter, Ray, Herbert, Alfred, Ervin, Richard and Gilbert Rohleder; and two sisters, Josephine Rohleder and Sophie Rohleder.
 
Jane Frances Ruder
     A funeral Mass for Jane Ruder, 76, Salina, was said March 20, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Kerry Ninemire celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Ruder died March 15. She was born Feb. 3, 1936, in Hays to William and Thecla (VonLintel) Brungardt.
     Survivors include four sons, Paul L. Ruder and wife, Beth, Salina, Thomas L. Ruder and wife, Tawana, Oklahoma City, James L. Ruder and wife, Lisa, Escondido, Calif., and David L. Florine R. Schmidt
      A funeral Mass for Florine Schmidt, 96, Plainville, was said March 15, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Michael Scully celebrated the Mass. Inurnment was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Schmidt died March 9. She was born Dec. 26, 1915, in Victoria to John M. and Catherine (Sanders) Rome. She married Samuel H. Neyland. He preceded her in death Sept. 1945. She later married Marcellus Schmidt.
     Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda A. Horst, Denver; a son, Kenn Neyland; a sister, Elizabeth Leikam; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
 
Helen Brungardt
     A funeral Mass for Helen Brungardt, 96, Victoria, was said March 10, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Brungardt died March 7. She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Munjor to Jacob and Rosa (Graf) Pfannenstiel. 
     Survivors include a son, Larry A. Brungardt and wife, Jeanie, Victoria; a daughter, Rose Marie Unrein and son-in-law, the late Bob Unrein, Victoria; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome A. Brungardt; her son-in-law, Bob Unrein; five brothers, Pete, John, Isadore, Aloise, Elmer Pfannenstiel; and five sisters, Anna Pfannenstiel, Pauline Werth, Felicitas Gabel, Phillipa Leiker, and Germaine Schuetz.
 
Stella Sander
     A funeral Mass for Stella Sander, 88, Victoria, was said March 8, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Sander died March 3. She was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Walker to William and Margaret (Hefner)-Thomas Schrant.
     Survivors include one son, James “Jim” Sander and wife, Maggie, Mifflintown, Penn; one daughter, Judy Dreiling and husband, Paul, Victoria; one brother, Paul Schrant, St. John’s of Hays Health Care Center and wife, Alice, Walker; two brothers-in-law, Leo Sander and wife, Mary Dean, Wichita and Gilbert Sander and wife, Kathleen, Great Bend; one sister-in-law, Agnes Schrant, Hays; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin A. “Eddie” Sander; one brother, William Schrant; one sister, Irene Brown; two half brothers, Ben Thomas and Lawrence Thomas; and one step-brother, Ed Schrant.
 
Marcella Klein
     A funeral Mass for Marcella Klein, 84, Pfeifer, was said Feb. 25, 2012, at Holy Cross Church in Pfeifer. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
     Mrs. Klein died Feb. 22. She was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Loretto to Anton and Pauline (Hertel) Engel. 
     Survivors include one son, Jerry L. Klein, Pfeifer; three daughters, Connie Faulkner Klein, Linda Staab and husband, Robert, both of Hays, and Elaine Scheck Meyer and husband, John, Great Bend; a stepson, Floyd Klein, Victoria; two sisters, Jane M. Penka, Palm Springs, Calif., and Sister Mary Rose Engel O.P. Great Bend; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Klein; a daughter-in-law, Susan (Ford) Klein; five brothers, Alex, Paul, Marcellus, Clemens and Edwin; four sisters, Catherine Urban, Rosie Evans, Martine Herman and Delores Suppes; and an infant sister, Anna Marie Engel.
 
Mary Louise Dreiling
     A funeral Mass for Mary Louise Dreiling, 82, Victoria, was said Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Earl Befort celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Dreiling died Jan. 25. She was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Vincent to Frank G. and Angela (Weigel) VonFeldt.
     Survivors include four daughters, Susie Windholz and husband, Julius, Victoria, Betty Brungardt, Hays, Theresa “Teri” Brantley and husband, David, Selden, and Patty Rohr and husband, Roger, Hays; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dreiling-Amrein and husband, Allan, Hays; three brothers, Art VonFeldt and wife, Joan, Victoria, Leo VonFeldt and wife, Dorothy, Palco, and Karl VonFeldt and wife, Sue, Topeka; two sisters, Winifreda “Winnie” Beckwith, Canyonville, Ore., and Charlotte Sanders, Wichita; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert F. “Herb” Dreiling; two sons, Johnny Dreiling and Frank H. Dreiling; a son-in-law, Edward D. “Eddie” Brungardt; and three sisters, Isabella Standley, Alma Sherlock and Mable Hays.
 
William Richard ‘Bill’ Schrant
     A funeral Mass for William Schrant, 47, Victoria, was said Jan. 25, 2012, at St. Ann Church in Walker. Father Jeffrey Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Ann Cemetery.
     Mr. Schrant died Jan. 18. He was born Aug. 31, 1964, in Hays to Paul and Alice M. (Rupp) Schrant.
     Survivors include his parents, Walker; five sisters, Marilyn Joy and husband, George and Patricia Anschutz, all of Hays, Lucy Conness and husband, Dave, WaKeeney, Marjorie Straub and husband, Rick, Walker, and Pamela Irwin and husband, Darren, Salina; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Margaret (Heffner) Schrant and Richard A. and Isabelle (Geist) Rupp.
 
Josephine ‘Josie’ Robben
     A funeral Mass for Josephine Robben, 105, Walker, was said Jan. 3, 2012, at St. Ann’s Church in Walker. Father Michael Scully celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
     Mrs. Robben died Dec. 30. She was born Jan. 20, 1906, in Emmeram to Martin and Catherine (Sander) Windholz.
     Survivors include a son, Norbert. F. Robben, Walker; three daughters, Shirley Vonfeldt and husband Francis, Plainville, Lillian Hockman and husband Ken, Sacramento, Calif., and June Denning, Spring Hill; one son-in-law Marion Schumacher, Munjor; two daughters-in-law, Louise Robben and Doris Robben, Victoria; one sister-in-law Hilaria Windholz, Victoria; 26 grandchildren 63 great-grandchildren, and 33 great great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis H.      A funeral Mass for Alma Billinger, 84, Victoria, was said Dec. 6, 2011, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Jeffery Ernst celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Billinger died Dec. 2. She was born March 21, 1927, in Victoria to John A. and Rosa (Dreiling) Weber.

Robert F. “Bob” Unrein

     Mrs. Cline died Oct. 31. She was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Neodesha to Harry Paul McCullough I and Edna (Doty) McCullough.

Irene E. Dinkel
     A funeral Mass for Irene Dinkel, 81, Victoria, was said Oct. 31, 2011, at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria. Father Daniel Dreher, grandson, celebrated the Mass, and Father Jeffery Ernst and Father Harvey Dinkel were con-celebrants. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mrs. Dinkel died Oct. 28. She was born in Ransom to Edward, Sr. and Agnes (Steckline) Honas.

Jennifer Dawn Lehmann

     Mrs. Lehmann died Oct. 24, 2011. She was born Sept. 17, 1975, in Hays to Edward and Lena (Scheck) Meder.

     Mrs. Sommers died Aug. 24. She was born June 16, 1924, in Gorham to Alex and Elizabeth Holtzmeister (Kisner) Mermis.

Dr. Gilbert Ambrose Brungardt

     Louise A. Dreiling died Jan. 14. She was born Aug. 21, 1935, in Collyer to Andrew J. and Helen (Wasinger) Brown.
     Survivors include a son, Steven Dreiling and wife, Dee, Halstead; two daughters, Janene Schrant and husband, Rick, WaKeeney and Janell Dreiling, McPherson; four sisters, Isabelle Dreiling, Engelwood, Colo., Matilda Brooks, Piedmont, S. C., Catherine Stumbaugh, Thornton, Colo., and JoAnn Berens, Rogers, Ark.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

     Mrs. Karlin died Dec. 12. She was born Jan. 22, 1948, in Hays to Jerome and Irene (Geist) Windholz.

Delmas K. Windholz

     Mr. Schmitt died Nov. 16. He was born April 23, 1927, in Gorham to Peter and Mary Ann (Berens) Schmitt.

Wayne Billinger

Elizabeth C. Dinkel

David Lee Rome
     Mr. Rome, 52, died April 3, 2009. A private family burial took place April 4, in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     He was born Sept. 21, 1956, in Hays to Edwin and Rose Ann (Elliott) Rome.
     Survivors include his mother, Hays; a brother, John Rome, Hays; and three sisters, Margaret Durr, Patricia Schindler and Mary Goodrow, all of Hays.
     He was preceded in death by his father.
 
Adelheid Krescentia ‘Adele’ Kuchar

     Mrs. Kuchar died March 9. She was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Munich, Germany to Joseph and Krescentia (Lux) Nagi.

William ‘Bill’ Wellbrock
     A funeral Mass for William Wellbrock, 63, was said Jan. 28, 2009, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Vincent.
     Mr. Wellbrock died Jan. 24. He was born June 6, 1945, in Hays to Francis and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Wellbrock.
     Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Steckline) Wellbrock; a brother, Wayne Wellbrock and wife, Diane, Victoria; three sisters, Shirley Augustine and husband, Don, Russell, and Lucy Boucher and Sunell Koerner, both of Hays; a brother-in-law, Steve Hoffman, Gorham; and 17 nephews and nieces.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Hoffman.
 
Anthony Bernard Lang
     A funeral Mass for Anthony Lang, 82, was said Jan. 26, 2009, at St. Fidelis Church.
Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Lang died Jan. 21. He was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Victoria to Bernard and Catherine (Dreiling) Lang.
     Survivors include his wife, Eleanor (Brungardt) Lang, a son, Bernard Joseph Lang and wife, Rosemary, Rapid City. S.D.; a daughter, Sharon Zierlein and husband, Lynn, Smith Center; a brother, Joseph Lang, Victoria; a sister, Theresa Dreiling and husband, Pat, Victoria; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers. Larry, Ray and Bennie; and three sisters, Mary Giebler, Germaine Gerstner and Katie Dealy.
 
Steven Paul Schmidtberger
     A funeral Mass for Steven Schmidtberger, 52, was said Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Great Bend. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Schmidtberger died Jan. 23. He was born July 15, 1956, in Great Bend to Paul and Vera (Romme) Schmidtberger.
     Survivors include two sons, Andy Schmidtberger, Wichita and Kyle Schmidtberger, Great Bend; two daughters, Jamie Vsetecka and Jessie Tomlinson, both of Great Bend; his parents, Great Bend; a brother, Mark Schmidtberger, Cheney; and four grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by an infant son.
 
Justin Randall Loffredi
     Mr. Loffredi, 31, died Jan. 16, 2009. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     He was born Dec. 15, 1977, in Millington, Tenn., to Steven G. and Maria T (LaBella) Loffredi.

LaVern R. Dreiling

Catherine ‘Aggie’ Goetz

Celeste Schmidtberger

Lucille Robben

     Survivors include his wife, Almeda (Brungardt) Hoffman; a son, Don and wife, Gretta, Hays, a sister, Philomena Buckingham, Cleveland, Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Leona Hoffman, Overland Park and Kathryn Hoffman, Hays; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ferdinand, Ray, Alphonse, Nick and Conrad; five sisters, Margaret Hoffman, Euphrosine Bollig, Eleanor Hoffman, Catherine Hoffman and Celestine Weigel.
 
Albinus A. Weigel
     A funeral Mass for Albinus Weigel, 83, was said April 7, 2008, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery in Victoria.
     Mr. Weigel died April 3. He was born July 1, 1924, in Sequin to August V. and Marie (Alway) Weigel.
     Survivors include his wife, Wilma M. “Velma” (VonLintel) Weigel; three daughters, Wanda Billinger and husband, Robert, Hays, Linda Gross and husband, Leslie, Munjor, and Sandy Brungardt and husband, Wayne, Hays; a brother, Eugene Weigel and wife, Arlene, Gorham; a sister, Bernice Rupp, Hays; a brother-in-law, Ray Herrman, Russell; two sister-in-laws, Viola Weigel, Gorham and Joan Weigel, Hays; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Francis, Gilbert, August “Sonny”, and Eddie; five sisters, Virginia Windholz-Herrman, Olga Hoffman-Montgomery, Dolores Heit-Ralston, Mary Zimmerman, and Catherine Logsdon-Murray; an infant son, Joseph Weigel and an infant daughter, Mary Weigel.
 
Irma Oswald
     A funeral Mass for Irma Oswald, 92, was said March 29, 2008, at St. Mary’s Church in Gorham. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Emmeram.
     Mrs. Oswald died March 25. She was born May 16, 1915, in Emmeram to Henry J. and Mary T. (Denning) Hoff.
     Survivors include a son, Lloyd E. Oswald, Gorham; four daughters, Julie Dauber, Bunker Hill, Henrietta Werth and husband, Larry, LaCrosse, Carrie Dolven and husband, James, Ellsworth, and Charlotte Colburn and husband, Harry, Fairport; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd J. Oswald; a brother, Henry A. Hoff; a sister, Lorena Weigel; and three son-in-laws, John Curtis Dockendorf; Alfred Stahl and Joseph Dauber.
 
Clarence ‘Pete” Wellbrock
     A funeral Mass for Clarence Wellbrock, 85, was said March 20, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
     Mr. Wellbrock died March 17. He was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Victoria to Joseph and Catherine (Berens) Wellbrock.
     Survivors include his wife, Leona (Kuhn) Wellbrock; three sons, Stan Wellbrock and wife, Barb, Garnett, Neil Wellbrock and wife, Pam, Victoria, and Rick Wellbrock and wife, Dee, Hays; two sisters, Viola Repshire, Oakley and Mildred Wellbrock, Victoria; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Herman, Louis, Edward, Ferd, Ben, Lawrence and Marvin; one infant brother, Roy James; three sisters, Elizabeth Wellbrock, Eleanor Munk and Luella Marvin; and one grandson, Jared Wellbrock.
 
Robert Lee Dinges
            A funeral Mass for Robert Dinges, 59, was said March 8, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
          Mr. Dinges died March 3. He was born May 1, 1948, in Hays to Wendelin “Buddy” and Alvera (Leiker) Dinges.

Wilmer W. Dinkel Sr.
          A funeral Mass for Wilmer W. Dinkel, 82, was said Feb. 21, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
          Mr. Dinkel died Feb. 18. He was born Nov. 18, 1925, near Victoria to Wendelin J. and Pauline (Dreiling) Dinkel.
          Survivors include his wife, Irene E. (Honas) Dinkel, Victoria; a son, Wilmer W. Dinkel Jr. and wife, Darlinea, Victoria; two daughters, Agnes Dreher and husband, Dean, Guymon, Okla., and Mary Ann Windholz and husband, Leland, Victoria; a brother, Alvin F. Dinkel, Victoria; a sister, Irene Beran, Great Bend; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
          He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Beverly Dinkel.
 
Katie Herman
          A funeral Mass for Katie Herman, 91, was said Feb. 21, 2008, at St. Joseph Church in Hays. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
          Mrs. Herman died Feb. 17. She was born Aug. 13, 1916, in rural Ellis County to Aloys A. and Clementine (Billinger) Sander.
          Survivors include two sons, Eddie D. Herman and wife, Carolyn, Hays and Gary L. Herman and wife, Deanne, Circleville; two daughters, Vera Soderberg and husband, Jerry, Dodge City and Verda Johnson and husband, Jon, Utica; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
          She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin W. Herman; three brothers, Clemens Sander, Sylerius Sander and Alec Sander; two infant brothers; five sisters, Genevieve Sander, Sophie Dreiling, Barbara Knoll, Lucina Sander and Lorinda Sander; and an infant sister.
 
Clarita Braun
          A funeral Mass for Clarita Braun, 89, was said Feb. 7, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery in Vincent.
          Mrs. Braun died Feb. 4.  She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Antonino to Peter P. and Mary (Klaus) Rohr.
          Survivors include a son, LaVern J. Braun and wife, Darlene, Victoria; three daughters, Doris Robben, Louise Robben and Rosie Dinkel, all of Victoria; four brothers, Alfred “Fritz” Rohr, Victoria, Nick Rohr and wife, Martina, Gorham, Victor Rohr and wife, Ruth, Ellsworth and Alvin Rohr and wife, Cleo, El Dorado; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren.
          She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendelin A. Braun; two brothers, Cyril Rohr and Robert Rohr; four sisters, Odilla Rohr, Clementine Braun, Agnes Gross and Philomena Braun; and three son-in-laws, Donald Dinkel, Kenneth Robben and Charles Robben.
 
Mary Driscoll
          A funeral Mass for Mary Driscoll, 81, was said Feb. 11, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
          Mrs. Driscoll died Feb. 3, 2008. She was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., to Thomas and Elsie (Keller) Hammersmith.
          Survivors include two sisters, Elsie Anne McLean, Martinsville, Va., and Evelyn H. Lenihan, Little River, S. C.
          She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Frank McNally and John Driscoll; and three sisters, Louise H. Rafter, Ruth H. Isbell and Kathryn Hammersmith.
 
Romilda Klaus
          A funeral Mass for Romilda Klaus, 88, was said Feb. 7, 2008, at St. Joseph Church in Hays. Inurnment was in St. Fidelis Cemetery. She died Feb. 3.
 
Georgine Wasinger
          A funeral Mass for Georgine Wasinger, 82, was said Jan. 26, 2008, at St. Fidelis Church. Burial was in St. Fidelis Cemetery.
          Mrs. Wasinger died Jan. 23. She was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Victoria to Raymond J. and Adelaide (Wasinger) Windholz.
          Survivors include two sons, Tom L. Wasinger and wife, Marlene, Hays, and Ray Wasinger and wife, Janice, Victoria; four daughters, Mickey Wasinger, Goddard, Judy Truhlar and husband, John, Turon, Jane Sparks and husband, Richard, Derby, and Nancy Cantrell and husband, Larry, Olathe; a brother, Ralph Windholz and wife, Millie, Victoria; a sister, Alice Staab and husband, Bob, Hays; a half-sister, Kathleen Schumacher and husband, Dennis, Hays; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Annette M. Lang

          Mrs. Lang died Jan. 15. She was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Catherine to Paul P. and Frances (Schmidt) Karlin.

Lang and wife, Laura, Lyons; a daughter, Wanda Brungardt and husband, Don, Russell; two brothers, Paul Karlin, Denver and Joe Karlin, Hays; two sisters, Mary Agnes Norwood, Leavenworth and Frances Arnhold, Grand Junction, Colo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
          She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond B. Lang, two brothers, Killian Karlin and Fidelis Karlin; and four sisters, Sally Meis, Severina Walters, Betty Brungardt and Frieda Lang.
